1. Enquiry
Following your initial enquiry, we'll arrange an on-site meeting. This is where I get to know you, learn how you want to use your garden, and understand its existing layout, conditions and challenges. Afterwards, you'll receive a detailed client brief along with a scope of works and fee proposal.

2. Outline Design
Once the proposal is agreed, I'll arrange a topographical survey of your garden and concept work begins. This is the creative heart of the project — plan views, 3D visuals and mood boards that bring the design to life. I'll then refine everything around your feedback before providing a revised concept for sign-off.
You receive: concept plans, 3D visuals, mood boards. Typically 4–6 weeks. -

3. Technical Design
With the design agreed, the detailing begins. I produce the full set of drawings your landscape contractor needs to build the garden accurately — setting-out plans, level plans and cross-sections, lighting layouts, and construction details, along with specifications for furniture and other features. This is the detail that ensures your garden is built exactly as designed.

4. Planting Design
DescriptioPlanting is where a garden comes to life, so it has a stage of its own. You'll receive a full planting plan showing the location of every plant, together with a plant schedule listing exact names, sizes and quantities, a planting mood board so you can picture the finished look, and a maintenance schedule so you know exactly how to keep it thriving through the seasons.

5. Tendering
The drawings form a tender pack used to obtain quotes from trusted landscape contractors — or a contractor of your own, if you'd prefer. I review and analyse the quotes with you to make sure you receive the highest quality in construction, finish and value.
You receive: contractor quotes, reviewed and compared, with my recommendation. -

6. Build
Now your garden begins to take shape. I work with the contractors throughout the build so the finished garden matches the vision — and so you don't have to project-manage it yourself. How closely I'm involved is up to you: from a visit at the start and end of the build, through to regular minuted site meetings. Once construction is complete, I set out the plants myself.
You receive: on-site design management through to completion, at the level that suits you. -

Every garden is bespoke, so each project is quoted individually based on the size of your space and the scope of your ideas. Frequently asked questions
How long does a garden design project take?
It varies with the size and complexity of the garden, but from first meeting to completed build most projects run over several months to a year or more. I'll give you a realistic timeline early on so you can plan around it.
Do you manage the build as well as the design?
Yes. Managing the build is part of the complete garden design service — and how closely I'm involved is up to you, from a couple of key site visits to regular minuted meetings. I set out the planting myself once construction is complete.
Which areas do you work in?
I'm based in the South of England and work regularly across Wiltshire, Berkshire and South West London, as well as further afield. If you are outside of these areas, do get in touch — I regularly travel for projects beyond my usual areas.
